Shipping, Refunds and Returns Policy

1. General Information

Plankton Zoo sells art objects and handmade design products, including earrings and other small design items. All products are produced and shipped by Once Upon a Time in Finland Oy, registered in Finland.

This policy applies to all purchases made through our webshop and complies with applicable EU and Finnish consumer protection legislation.

2. Right of Withdrawal (EU Consumer Rights)

If you are a consumer residing in the EU, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods, without providing a reason.

The withdrawal period expires 14 days from the day you, or a third party indicated by you, receive the goods.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must notify us of your decision by a clear written statement (for example by email).

3. Conditions for Returns

Returned items must meet the following conditions:

  • The product must be unused and in the same condition as when received

  • The product must be returned in its original packaging, including any protective materials

  • Earrings and other items intended for personal use or hygiene must be unworn

We reserve the right to refuse a return or issue a partial refund if the product shows signs of use, damage, or improper handling.

4. Exceptions to the Right of Withdrawal

Under EU law, the right of withdrawal does not apply to:

  • Custom-made or personalized products

  • Products that are sealed for hygiene reasons and have been unsealed after delivery

If a product is non-returnable, this will be clearly stated in the product description.

5. Return Process

  1. Contact us by email within 14 days of receiving your order to notify us of the return

  2. After approval, return the item within 14 days of your notification

  3. The customer is responsible for arranging and paying for return shipping unless the item is faulty or incorrect

We recommend using a tracked shipping method, as we cannot be responsible for lost return shipments.

6. Refunds

Once we receive and inspect the returned item, we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If approved:

  • The refund will be issued using the original payment method

  • Refunds are processed within 14 days of receiving the returned item

Shipping Costs

  • Original shipping costs are refunded only if required by EU law (standard delivery option)

  • Return shipping costs are not refunded, unless the return is due to a defective or incorrect item

Packaging and handling costs are included in the product price and are not refunded separately.

7. Damaged or Incorrect Items

If you receive an item that is:

  • Damaged during transport

  • Defective

  • Incorrect (wrong product)

Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery, including photos where possible.
We will arrange a replacement or refund, including shipping costs where applicable.

8. Delivery and Shipping Times

We process and ship orders within 1–3 business days from order confirmation.
This means the shipment is handed over to the carrier within a maximum of 3 days, after which delivery time depends on the destination country and postal service.

We ship worldwide. Estimated delivery times may vary depending on location and customs processing outside the EU.

9. Non-EU Customers

For customers outside the EU:

  • Local customs duties, taxes, and import fees may apply

  • The right of withdrawal may not apply in the same way as for EU consumers

  • Returns are accepted at our discretion and must follow the same condition requirements

Return shipping costs and any customs fees are the responsibility of the customer.
